Thoughts on Cotto not fighting until 2015?

It will be worth the wait he has big fights coming up.

Yeah, it's quite a letdown. Cotto is one of the few exciting fighters we have now. He is tough and relentless, never letting up from the opening bell down to the last round.

Its ok if he's fighting early january

Cotto has always been an avid family man, even when his wife was "running around a bit". I'm sure he wants to spend the time with his family. Plus I'm sure management is a mess with Pacquiao and Freddie's schedules and Top Rank being unsure who to put him in with.

.

If he's not fighting Golovkin, than who should he fight? I'd like to see Alvarez move up and fight Cotto but I doubt Canelo plans to move up anytime soon. There was talk of a fight with Tim Bradley but I'm glad that's just rumors. Otherwise, it would be a clear example of how corrupt the business of boxing really is. I can think of a bunch of middleweights who deserve a shot at Cotto more than Bradley does. Plus, at 160, Tim would be a meatball. He's only 5'6"

He said he has enough money and said he doesn't need to fight this year.

There is no one easy, or that can make enough money for him, in middleweight. I am disappointing, i was expecting an Alvarez-Cotto fight, a HUGE Mexican vs Puerto Rican show down.

@fishnet

Cotto does not have terrible spending habits, he also owns half the gas stations in Caguas and has a fairly successful promotional company in Puerto Rico. He will be fine monetarily trust me.

Cotto might not be active fighting but he always stays in shape. That's Cotto. Now the fight against MAravilla is another story. Sergio was not in his best fighting form that night. The knees were responsible for the destruction. Not Cotto.

He's got bill to pay. Now that's the real problem for Miguel

It's a bit of a letdown, i was hoping to see the guy fight again even if it was against an easy, beatable opponent from the many potential opponents who are willing to fight him.

Articles suggest he was unwilling to train outside of PR or the US but I don't know if I totally believe it. Maybe that's part of the reason but he doesn't seem to want to dampen the hype from totally destroying Martinez earlier in the year, before fighting a big money fight with Canelo. Hopefully this lack of activity will not end up hurting Cotto.
