What's the problem with Mayweather fighting Maidana?

Posted at: 2015-04-20
Haters are funny because when they thought it was Khan they were saying Floyd is ducking Maidana who is more dangerous. He takes Maidana and the same people are whining... Nothing is good enough...

The main problem is Floyd put it out to vote on twitter, Khan won the vote hands down and Mayweather still chose Maidana because he boxes slow like Mayweather so it is an easier fight. He ducked out of Khan as he is a quick paced fighter and Mayweather can't deal with speed, even tho I think if he caught Khan on his glass chin he would be out for the count!

Nothing Maidana deserves the fight he fought hard against Broner he has been winning and active. Khan has been neither. For all the Khan fans out there crying Khan needs to be active he turned down the fight with Alexander that would of set him up for a perfect matchup with Mayweather if he won the fight. Who has Khan beat in the last couple years to deserve this fight.

There's no problem with Floyd fighting Maidana or anybody. The problem is with people who were called boxing fans who justified a mismatch. To ask you a question, how much percentage can you give Maidana in beating Floyd and are you willing to back it up with a bet? Floyd have been fighting super hype fighters who just came of from a big win but in reality doesn't stand a chance and people still blindly justify the choice. I can understand if there is no competition out there but to be blindly praised, adored and defend his choices is beyond comprehension.

Floyd can fight a kangaroo and it is not my concern but I am sure his fans will still be justifying the fight. This is how it is and the problem with Floyd. How can we see a fight we want if people gets satisfied on him fighting undeserving opponent. He, like a circus gave his fans two undeserving fighters to choose from and the one chosen was left behind. Is that respect? He already made up his mind on who to fight even before he gave his fans two opponent to choose from.

The problem is not Floyd Mayweather Jr. but people who were willing to be treated like a fool justifying, glorifying and defending all the choices Floyd made calling him great. If a fighter can be called great avoiding competition then the definition of greatness have been change.

It is because mayweather is a future hall of famer and he claims to be the best of all time. There are still better fights to be made (Pacquiao,Martinez,Bradley,Lara,Thurman)... Some people believe that the maidana fight will be a remake of the Guerrero vs mayweather fight because both fighters are flat footed and slow. Styles make fights which is why some people believe that manny pacquiao style (speed and great footwork) would give mayweather problems.

I couldn't agree more, he's a hot name, looked great in his last 4 fights under Robert Garcia and has that "it" factor or killer instinct. He's a quiet killer who has a good chin, a ton of heart, and great power in both hands. Khan looked like dog **** against Julio Diaz, after he dumped Freddie Roach he has been a tentative boxer instead of a exciting combination fighter. Nobody can outbox Floyd let a lone a guy who has a terrible chin. Maidana is the way more exciting and better matchup, Can't Wait.

No. The belt thing don't matter. Their is too many belts to go by that. Maidana was out boxed by Khan, and Alexander not too long ago. People remember this, and it doesn't excite them. Maidana beat Broner, big deal. I thought Paulie gave Broner all he could handle. People prefer challenges Danny Garcia is undefeated, and is a real proven champion. Manny Pacquiao is past prime, but is the #1 challenger for his WBC Welterweight belt. Lara is proven, and truly unbeaten , and is #1 challenger for his 154 lb. WBA belt. Floyd is a Welterweight Riddick Bowe. He really lost to Castillo, so Floyd is 44-1 tossing belts, in the trash, like Bowe was 43-1 retired, throwing belts in the trash.

There is nothing wrong, maidana is a left over of khan...boxing fans doesnt want maidana, or khan, alvarez...we want pacquiao vs floyd, and keeps ducking it...that is the problem...

Nothing is wrong with Mayweather fighting Maidana. They are both champions that will give the fans an exciting fight. It's the haters that will never give him credit. I myself give him full credit for fighting the best.

@Davin. I thought Floyd beat Castillo both times but it was competitive. Great speech on the haters.

Why fight Maidonna when Amir Khan already beat him?

Marcos is the newly crowned WBA welterweight champion on a big career upswing, not to mention he's won his last 4 in a row. I don't understand how Mayweather always gets berated for fighting guys who are champs and/or on winning streaks. Would people prefer he fights the losers or something???

Easy challenger

The problem is that Maidana is not lined along with the elites yet. He's slow and smaller than Fraud. He doesn't bring much money to the table. And many fking more.

at floyds current status hes expected to fight his fellow top p4p welters... is maidana, khan alvarez and guerrero even top 10 p4ps?...riiight....

back to maidana, problem is he lacks experience and speed, and his style is tailor made for floyd... w/ maidana, people already seen this kind of floyd fight..

problem w/ floyd? he needs to feel ashamed fightin this types... but he seems more proud doin it, bc people like you supports it... you guys even applaud when floyd confirmed he looks for such low risk fights... I think youl even embrace him if he say he actually cherrypicks his fights

Mayweather gets held at an unfair standard. He fights the best opponents available to him but you got people wanting him to violate the terms of his contract with Showtime, do business with a scumbag promoter, and seek fights against fighters 2 weight classes above him, just because they want him to lose.

When Shane Mosely beat Antonio Margarito, Pacquiao and his team straight up ducked him, demanding he make a ridiculous catchweight of 143 lbs. Floyd Mayweather took him on when he was seen as a dangerous opponent. #1 Welterweight, WBA Welterweight champion, #3 Pound for Pound, and people were saying Floyd was ducking him. He completely outclassed what was supposed to be the "toughest fight of his career" to date. It wasn't until after that people started saying he was old.

Floyd was accused of ducking fast and explosive Andre Berto. Victor Ortiz, young, big, southpaw with power, all the things critics wanted in an opponent, beat Andre Berto as a 4-1 underdog. He gets criticized for that as well.

The man beat the Super Featherweight lineal champion with ease.Defended it with dominance, outclassed an undefeated Diego Corrales, who was supposed to be too big and a very tough fight.

He moved up in weight and immediately faced the Lightweight Champion Jose Luis Castillo with a torn rotator cuff. He won by a controversial decision. He rematched him and won convincingly.

When he moved up to Welterweight he fought the Welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir

He is undefeated in championship fights with a 20+ -0 record.

He is currently holding the WBC Welterweight championship, WBA and WBC Super Welterweight championships and the Ring Champion in 2 weight classes at the same time.

He has done it all making it look effortless.

People just want to hate him.

lolz.. for mayweather belt is nothing..

Maidana is just too slow.. easy target.. easy win for floyd UNANIMOUS DECISION
