Prime Patterson moved faster. He was faster, both with his hands and feet. But Tyson had excellent fast-twitch muscle fibers which account for his quick and explosive movements, especially with his punches. In short, generally, it's Patterson who's faster, but as far as quick and explosive movements are concerned, it's Mike Tyson.

Floyd Patterson was superior to Mike Tyson in every category with the exception of punching power. Mike hit harder than Floyd, but in all else Floyd was better than Mike.

From watching both I would say Patterson was faster, with much less power than Tyson.
