Forget the Duran fight. Duran was well past his prime while Hearns was in his. Also, it doesn't take a genius to see that, despite the loss to Hearns, Duran takes a much better punch than does Pacquiao. In well over 100 fights, Duran was never fazed, much less hurt, in his prime. He suffered two knockdowns early in his career against Esteban DeJesus but he destroyed DeJesus in two of three meetings.

Also, if JM Marquez was able to reach Pacquiao many times with the right hand, what would the much faster, more powerful and accurate Hearns do?

This fight is no contest. Great as he is, Pacquiao is not a full-welterweight. He has nothing to offer Hearns.

Pacquiao has not kayoed any welterweight since his first official fight in the division versus Miguel Cotto. He also stopped Oscar de la Hoya at an earlier fight at catch weight of 147 but Oscar was coming down from as high as 160-165 lbs. Perhaps if Arum can convince Hearns to a catch weight fight at 145 lbs. and Tommy was already having trouble meeting 147, Manny can have a chance of beating Tommy as the only way for him to win is by stopping or kayoing Hearns. But still fat chance! prime Sugar Ray Leonard almost took the entire 15 rounds to stop a weight-drained Hearns in their first super fight in 1981. Even in such condition, Hearns with his pole-long and stiff jabs and deadly hooks and uppercuts could take Pacquiao down and out inside two at most four rounds.
Too tall too powerful. People that can swarm and get into brawls have success against Hearns though. Leonard Hagler and Barkley successfully managed to get Hearns into a slug fest and beat him.
Tommy Hearns is 6ft 2 though haha Pacquiao might not be able to reach his chin. Hearns beats ANY welterweights throughout history except the Sugars. He would be at worst 50/50 against any welter in history I think. The Hitman had it all except a chin.
I am a fan of hearns and pac...and to be honest with you i dont believed pac can beat hearns...However,chance? there is always a chance because pac has the power in his prime...He has quickness and power, so that alone is a chance...hearns is almost 6'3 LOL...I dont know if he can reach hearns chin...But if he can, there might be a chance for pac to atleast make the fight more interested and exciting...Its going to be a war, because i believe pac will brawl with hearns...LOL...He might sleep 10 minutes worst than marquez LOl...
Its hard cuz the height of hearns would mamke it dificult for pacqiuao but you never know pacqiuao vs hearns could be a repitition of hearns vs duran or pacqiuao vs margarito were pacqiuao speed was too much..
