You are correct - I had Joshua at the wrong end of a points decision too...
However, the pro ranks are a completely different kettle of fish, a gold, silver or bronze medal means zip in the professional arena.
best example of a mediocre ameteur- amazing pro = Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns
best example of great amateur - mediocre pro = Audley Harrison
What's your beef with Anthony Joshua?
I've heard sometthing about this before, but have never seen the fight...
At the end of the day I don't really care though. Having a gold medal doesn't make you as a fighter, it just makes you more marketable.
Joshua is a pro now, and that's what I care about. I can appreciate a gold medal for sure, it's a great achievment.
However, your pro career is what's really significant IMO. Joel Casamayor won a gold medal in 92, but I coudlnt' care less. What he did as a pro is what got my respect. Same w/ Oscar De La Hoya.
You get my point here Rich, this is a different league. Miguel Cotto was a modest amateur but a great pro, only time will tell.how a guy liike Joshua, Lomachenko or a Felix Verdejo will pan out.
Felix Savon's nephew definitively beat him in their match at the Olympics.
