There are no Jr Welterweights nor Welterweights that can defeat Mayweather at this time. Matthysse has the power but he'd be fighting, statistically, the hardest man to hit in the history of boxing and he doesn't have the skill set, timing, or speed to accomplish that. Bradley would be tailor-made for Floyd and anyone who thinks he'd have a shot can't call themselves a knowledgeable fight fan.

I've never believed Pacquiao had what it took to beat Floyd, even back when the hype of the two men facing off was at it's peak. I still believe that today.

I want to say Alvarez but he's so untested I'd be completely unfounded if I said he had a legitimate shot at the champ. Trout is the only name that comes to mind. His size, southpaw stance, and decent speed give him the best chance, which is not a very good chance at that.

Among the junior welters, I think Amir Khan or Lamon Peterson has a good shot with Danny Garcia, Bam Bam Rios and Lucas Matthysse as long shots.

Among the welters, I think Tim Bradley and Manny Pacquiao have good shots with Keith Thurman as a long shot.

Among the junior middleweights, I think Canelo Alvarez and Austin Trout have good shots with Ishe Smith as a long shot.

Austin Trout

I think Trout his the rare combination of size, skill, and youth, something Floyd Mayweather has never faced. Floyd's beaten a lot of tough fighters and I can't discredit that, but Floyd has always had the benefit of having two of those three attributes in his favor.

When he faced Victor Ortiz, Ortiz didn't have the skill but he had the size and youth. However, Trout is skilled, he's bigger than Floyd, and he has the benefit of being younger.

I think Trout is on the horizon, a number of fans talk about Adrian Broner, Nonio Donare, and Andre Ward taking the torch once Floyd and Manny are gone and they probably will, but Trout is sleeper, he's right around the corner.
