Great match up my friend, this would be a war. Saddler was the much bigger of the two, 5'8.5" with a 70 in reach compared to Gomez at 5'5" who was at his best at super bantamweight whereas Saddler was a featherweight who knocked out champions at super featherweight and lightweight.
Both were punchers, Saddler was more experienced with a 144-16-2(103) record, Gomez retired with a 44-3-1(42) record.
The fight: I favour Saddler in this match up, he was bigger, more experienced and was never stopped in his career. Although Gomez was great and a champion at super bantamweight, featherweight and super featherweight, he was stopped three times and I feel that although he would give Saddler a tough fight and make it exciting for a few rounds he would eventually get worn down, overwhelmed and knocked out by Saddler.
