Why is Cotto the underdog against Martinez?

Erm, because Martinez is better

Beat Pavlik, beat Williams, beat Chavez

Lineal middleweight champ

Fully established at the weight

And Cotto lost to blown up super feather Mayweather and blown up flyweight Pacquiao at a weight that suited him betterthan middleweight when he was younger than he is today

To name a few reasons

Because Cotto is a small guy and never fought at middleweight. And he's at a huge disadvantage. Martinez can still fight and if he's healthy cotto is in some serious trouble. Martinez regardless has the better boxing skills, height, reach by 5 in, movement and experience at the weight. We don't know if Cotto will be comfortable at 160. He's just to small for middleweight and is at a huge disadvantage so don't count in injuries alone to asure cotto the win. Because if Sergio is healthy and good he's gonna pummel cotto

Because he's smaller.

Martinez might be older but he's aged better whereas Cotto's been to many wars i think. The Pacquaio and Margarito fight took a lot out of him.

Why is Cotto the underdog against Martinez?

Because he truly is. Forget about the live underdog. Its a virtual mismatch. I just cant see him stopping Maravilla. Many people think that Cotto's best days are behind him and the bigger and stronger Sergio will will impose his will on him. Im seeing this fight in that direction.

My fearless forecast:

The ref calls a halt to the bout as Martinez wins via TKO

Because "Slow moto Cotto" was godawful SLOW at 147 and will be even shower at 160. Unless we're missing something, this fight should be a virtual mismatch. Maybe Martinez suffers some lingering effects from the time off and the surgery. That would be Cotto's best chance. Otherwise, I don't see him even going the distance.

People seem to think Freddie Roach can work some sort of magic. TEN Roaches won't be enough to help Cotto once the bell rings. I just don't even see him being very competitive. I almost wish I was wrong because Miguel's a nice guy. I just hate to see what's likely to happen to him once the fight starts.

Martinez by KO in 8

1) Cotto isn't a middleweight and his best days were at Welterweight.

2) No one is believing the mirage that he is rejuvenated (the stoppage of Delvin Rodriguez).

3) Martinez has speed, reach, and power advantages.

4) From the Faceoff with Max Kellerman, its obvious that Martinez wants to destroy Cotto.

5) Cotto is no defensive expert.

Martinez is near the age of 40 and is complaining about constant pain due to training. Without his physical therapist, he wouldn't even be able to hold up. He struggled against Matthew Macklin and in my opinion lost to Martin Murray. Constant injury has plauged this man, and I doubt this time will be any different. Cotto is 6 years younger and has been in the ring with the best fighters today. He hasn't shown decline in his last fight against Delvin Rodriguez. If Martinez were in his prime, I could see him beating Cotto, but old age will keep him from doing that.
