Hello Toughguy! Great question once again sir. All of these Lightweights were very tough competition, and can Roberto Duran be dominating as a Lightweight fighting in these eras?

In my opinion, Roberto Duran was the greatest Lightweight of all time. He beat the likes of Ernesto Marcel, Hiroshi Kobayashi, Ken Buchanan, Estaban De Jesus, and Guts Ishimatsu, among others. He was undisputed Lightweight champion of the world.

Here are my top 5 Lightweights of all time.

1. Roberto Duran

2. Joe Gans

3. Benny Leonard

4. Ike Williams

5. Henry Armstrong

So your question, would Roberto Duran be as dominating in the 1940's? Yes he would. He was the best Lightweight of all time, so he would be as great as he was still, and would dominate.

That is a n impressive list of boxers from the 40's but I think the best was Ike Williams and I think Roberto Duran can win a close fight against Ike Williams so yes he would be champion even if he fought in the 40's.

Roberto Duran could have easily beaten any of the lightweights. of the 1940's

Duran would be a tough competitor at any given weight he's fought in especially at his best weight where he remained undefeated. Duran will be Duran in any given era and that hands of stone can crush anyone.

The competition was fierce with fighters such as Ike Williams, Jimmy Carter, Joe Brown, Wallace "Bud" Smith, Sammy Angott, Paddy DeMarco, Art Aragon, Lauro Salos, Beau Jack, Bob Montgomery, etc.
