Boxing: 5 Mayweather fights he wouldve lost if rhe opponent had a better strategy?

Curious of your opinions...

1. Jose Luis Castillo I. Castillo almost beat Mayweather, and many people did believe that this is the fight that Mayweather lost. According to Compubox, Castillo landed more power punches than Mayweather. I think the first 5 rounds or so were Mayweather's rounds. Perhaps if Castillo applied that pressure earlier on, since it worked later in the fight. In my opinion, landing more shots isn't always everything. For example, if Fighter A dominates a fight for 11 rounds, then Fighter B lands 1000 punches in the last round, Fighter A still wins on the cards. That's why I think Floyd won that fight. He won the first 4-5 rounds. Round 6-12 were back and forth, but Floyd won more rounds. But back to your question, Castillo could have won with more pressure.

2. Oscar De La Hoya. He was doing very well with the jab and pressure, even though not many landed. He seemed to forget the jab in the later rounds, and if he kept the jab up, he could have won the fight.

Damn you got me stumped Sean, there's no more I could think of.

If one were to use any of his fights as a blueprint to beat him, I think Castillo 1 is the closest example. Mayweather is one of the best at adjusting to fighter's styles, and is simply too good.

I don't know if cheating/bending the rules is also part of strategy. If that's the case, it's Jose Luis Castillo during their first and second fights.

Boxing Fans just always said that Castillo won this bout because he outlanded Mayweather. But, they never remembered how he did that. Castillo cheated the entire night. He clinched Mayweather a lot and hitting in the breaks, he even got one point deducted in that fight. This is cheating.

The only fighter I believe would stand a chance of beating Mayweather fair and square if he had the better strategy is none other than Oscar De La Hoya. He stopped doing the jabs in the later rounds, therefore he lost that 2007 fight.

1. Zab Judah

Zab was beating Mayweather for the first half of their fight. either Mayweather was just starting slow, and just finally figured Zab out.....or Zab just completley abandoned his game plan. but Zab seeme to relinquish quite a bit of momentum in that fight

2. Miguel Cotto

Migueal had made pretty much an even fight before shamefully running out of gas. Cotto was very effective with his jab, and had he been better coditioned, may be he could have finsihed the fight stronger

3. Jose Louis Castio

if so many people think he won that fight, may be he should done more to get a KO

If Ricky Hatton wouldn't have kept coming in with his right hand down ,he would'nt have got caught with nearly as many left hooks as he did ,perhaps that would have been a different fight if he had.
