Why Diego Gabriel Chaves Loss by disqualification against Brandon Rios?

It was a rough and rugged fight marked on a few occasion by Chaves's arm-locking and glove-lacing and Rios's head butting. But as a whole it was fought within the bounds of the rules and Chaves was winning it until that friggin referee stopped it and Dq'd him.

From the onset, it was clear that Chaves was concerned with Rios's head first assault and head-butting, accidental or otherwise and he had tried to call Drakulich attention to such. Obviuously, to no avail. And what is a boxer to do under the circumstances but to resort to holding, clinching and arm-lock to prevent the opponent from boring in head first and goring in with head flailing at close quarters which is tantamount to deliberate head butting?

Clinching and holding, including arm lock, are allowed in boxing as a defensive measure but not in excess But the referee should also penalize the guy who keeps on going forward with his head first and tossing about his head on the opponent's face during in-fighting.

Drakulich wanted an all-action fight to entertain the fans but he did not give Chaves adequate opportunity to fight his fight from a safe distance while giving Rios all the benefit of the doubt with his head first attacking style.

Rios knew Chaves was winning the fight and to his credit, he initailly balked at the DQ "win".

If there will be a rematch, another ref who would show strictness for both to control the bout is highly recommended.

Chaves was disqualified after gauging at Rios eye, which is grounds for immediate disqualification. He actually got away with it earlier in the fight, but Chaves kept pushing the issue until the ref eventually caught on and issued the dq.

Because Chavez guillotened choke Rios MMA style.

cause the ref is stupid. He was disquailified for holding after being warned many times. He did also take down Rios on a choke lock. But Rios was being the dirty fighter. They both were. Horrible fight.

Gouging and heeling with the palm of the glove is taboo and grounds for a DQ.................He was warned and point taken for holding and all around dirty fighting.
